Ingredients detail

Apple is a healthy fruit containing a lot of antioxidants. Furthermore a lot of flavonoids are present, which are very important phytonutrients that are vital for the human body. Apple contains the following antioxidants:

  • Quercetine is a powerful antioxidant and cholesterol-reducing agent that has an anti-inflammatory effect
  • Catechin is a very powerful antioxidant that helps against arteriosclerosis
  • Chlorogenic acid reduces the amount of glucose that enters the bloodstream
  • Phlorizin also reduces the amount of glucose in the bloodstream and at the same time stabilizes the blood level

Next to the healthy and powerful effects, apple also gives that extra freshness to our detox package.

Lemon

Lemon, the ultimate detoxer, is one of detoxing’s hidden secrets. The yellow citrus fruit has an acidic flavour that is caused by citric acid. Lemon has a couple of very beneficial natural effects for your body, particularly for the skin and obviously for your metabolism. All this makes lemon a considerable factor in DrDetoxBox’ detox package!

The nutrients vitamin B, C, calcium, iron, magnesium and potassium all contribute to the positive workings of lemon on the human body. It is said that lemon also makes losing weight easier because of its saturating effect. As of now, there is little scientific evidence to support these claims (this not to say that this evidence doesn’t exist).

Lemon juice could accelerate the digestion, and has a cleansing effect on the intestines at the same time. We would advise you to drink lemon water during and after detoxing, but make sure that you don’t drink more than 2 litres a day. Moderation is key.

Beetroot

Beetroot is an unmissable member of our detox package for it contains a lot of fibres. Fibres feed the good bacteria in the intestines and they add mass to your stool. This has an overall positive effect on the digestion. Beetroot also provides the muscles with oxygen, which comes in handy during detox as you might feel some muscle cramps as a side effect. And finally, beetroot contains a lot of nutrients, but is very low on calories.

In case beetroot is not a regular part of your eating and drinking habits, you might want to reconsider. It enhances your performance and could contribute to all of your weight-losing efforts, next to the fact that beetroot almost explodes with vitamins and minerals.

Ginger

Ginger is a powerful herb because of all the vitamins and minerals it contains. Potassium, magnesium and sodium benefit your blood level, for example. It also contains iron, calcium and zinc, as well as vitamins B1, B2 and B6. Ginger has a lot of good qualities that , for example, can help lessen that bloated feeling.

Gingerol is an active substance that is known as a powerful anti-inflammatory agent. There is research that states that ginger even has a soothing effect on menstrual pains.

Moreover, DrDetoxBox has chosen to combine gingershots with juices containing ginger because it enhances nutrient uptake.
During and after detoxing we advise you to keep drinking ginger tea and ginger shots: just keep on benefiting from gingers healthy influence.

Pomegranate

Pomegranate grows from a tiny little tree, that carries bright-red, white or orange petals and on the inside you can find transparent, reddish seeds sealed in little bags.

Pomegranate contains loads of potassium and vitamin C. And did you know it contains more polyphenols than red wine or green tea? Polyphenols are powerful antioxidants. All this contributes to the widespread belief that pomegranate has a lot of health-benefiting qualities.

Your skin benefits from pomegranate’s production of collagen, a building block of the skin and one of the most important protein bonds that produces a smooth and firm skin. Pomegranate not only contains substances and enzymes that demolish collagen, but also extends the lifespan of fibroblasts.

These substances keep the skin elastic and even. Pomegranate is rich with fibres, vitamins, minerals and bioactive, vegetal substances, but also contains more fruit sugar.

  • fibres : 7 grams
  • proteins : 3 grams
  • Vitamin C : 30% of the ADH
  • Vitamin K : 36% of the ADH
  • Folic acid : 16% of the ADH
  • Potassium : 12% of the ADH

Coconut water

Coconut water is won from young coconuts and is a good source for fibres, vitamin C and various important minerals. It particularly contains a lot of magnesium: 100 grams of coconut water contains 7% of the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) of magnesium. Furthermore it contains 5% of the RDA of Vitamin B2 and the same percentage of potassium. Potassium, magnesium, sodium and calcium are vital for keeping the right moisture balance in your body.

Coconut water is widely regarded as the perfect, natural sports drink because of the restoration of the moisture balance in your body and the replenishment of your electrolyte supply after a workout. Electrolytes are minerals that are, among other things, involved in handling toxic acids.

100% coconut water is a fresh thirst-quencher with a lot of healthy traits.

Cucumber

Cucumber is the silent force within DrDetoxBox. It has low calorie content and a low volume of carbohydrates. In addition it contains high volumes of fibres and vitamins A, B, C and E. It is a formidable water source and therefore 100 grams contain no more than 13 calories and 97% is liquid. This enables the body to effectively get rid of all those toxic acids within your digestion system.

Lastly cucumber lowers the level of uric acid, which keeps your kidneys healthy.

  • Because of the vitamin B-complex (vitamins B3, B5 and B9 in particular), carbohydrates, fats and ‘good’ proteins, cucumber keeps your immune system in tact.

The skin of the cucumber houses high concentrations of caffeic acids, vitamin C and ascorbic acid that keep your skin healthy and reduces skin irritation and infections. Don’t forget to keep cucumber on your daily menu after detoxing.

Turmeric

Turmeric is a spice that is produced by the Curcuma Longa plant that mostly resides in South-East Asia. Other names are ‘koenir’ and ‘koenjit’. Curcuma Longa is related to the ginger plant. And just like ginger, turmeric is made out of the root.

Turmeric contains important vitamins such as A, B1, B2, B3, B6, B12, C, D, E and K. It also contains valuable minerals like iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium and zinc. The antioxidants counter the oxidation process and thereby protect the body. One of these antioxidants is the powerful curcumine that enhances the production of your body’s own antioxidants. It also improves the kidney function so that your blood pressure lowers.

DrDetoxBox has added turmeric shots to its detox package, but keep in mind that an abundance of curcumine and/or turmeric could cause kidney stones. Just in case you want to add turmeric to your daily menu.

Mango

We all know mango as that wonderful and sweet piece of fruit. But next to the sweet taste and the fruit sugars, mango has some other terrific traits.  Mango juice for example purifies our body and gets rid of all those toxic acids that gather mainly in our bodily tissues.

Mango contains large amounts of vitamin A and vitamin C. It is rich with iron, calcium, magnesium as well as vitamin B6 and folic acid: 100 grams of pulp contains all of the prescribed daily volume of vitamin C and that with only just 61 kilocalories. Even antioxidants like beta-carotene and zeaxanthin are found in mango.

We have added mango to our DrDetoxBox because of the high dose of tryptophan  (a predecessor to serotonin): also known as ‘ the happiness hormone’.

Mango makes a happy cleansing. After detoxing we think it advisable to at least consume 200 grams of mango twice a week.

Parsnip

Parsnip is a vegetable that we Westerners seem to have forgotten for some time. But luckily parsnip is on a healthy rise. It contains 17% of the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) of folic acid and 19% of the RDA of vitamin K. Parsnip is an ideal and healthy substitute for sugar: it satisfies your need for sugar without all of the unwanted consequences. In addition it stimulates the kidneys to drain all of the toxic acids out of the body.

Parsnip contains only few calories and is filled with iron, potassium, calcium, essential oils, folic acid and vitamins E, C and B.

DrDetoxBox has added parsnip to its detox package because essential oils relieve gastrointestinal complaints. After detoxing parsnip can serve as a good potato-substitute.

Celery

Celery is rich with beta-carotene, which is converted into vitamin A. This ensures healthy bones, a healthy skin, a strong immune system and is equally important for the eyesight. Beta-carotene has an anti-oxidative effect that protects bodily cells against the so-called ‘free radicals’. Celery strengthens the liver, for it has a hepatoprotective effect (protects the liver). Women benefit from celery in their own way, as celery has a helpful effect by healing the body and refilling the iron and calcium reserve that diminishes during menstruation.

Celery is the perfect natural tonic for your health, be it inwards or outwards. With the help of vitamins C, B1 and B2, folic acid and the minerals potassium, sodium, calcium, phosphor and iron, celery is a welcome addition to your eating pattern. Eating celery on a regular basis feeds the skin and mineralises the body. After detoxing you could imagine yourself passing your nibble moments with a healthy celery snack (without sauce), can’t you? J

Orange

An orange is a permanent member of the famous ‘five principal food ingredients’-list. Fruit has a lot of advantages for your health. An abundance of oranges, however, could be damaging because of all the fruit sugars. That is why we have meticulously compiled our DeDetoxBox-menu, filled with just the right amount of orange. Oranges contain lots of vitamin C and contribute to the intake of folic acid. Consuming citrus fruits like oranges can have an anti-inflammatory effect, as a Nurses’ Health Study (United States) has shown.

Oranges are widely regarded as healthy fruit because of their preventive effect on many health problems. It turns out that women who receive lots of flavonoids through their consumption of citrus fruit, have 10% less inflammatory substances in their blood: oranges have a significant anti-inflammatory effect, next to all the other health benefits.

Spinach

Spinach is an integral part of the DrDetoxBox juice cleanse. We don’t need to tell you about Popeye who eats his spinach in order to get his iron muscles. It is correct that spinach contains iron, but there is so much more! A lot of the characteristics of spinach are super healthy and form a welcome addition to our bodies, like minerals such as potassium, calcium, phosphor and magnesium.

Besides, spinach contains vegetal omega-3 fats and folic acid, which both diminish your chances on cardiovascular deceases. It also contains beta-carotene (provitamin A) and vitamins B2, B3, B6, C, K & A. Spinach is extremely rich with dietary fibres, out of which 70% is insoluble and 30% is soluble.

Tryptophan is an amino acid that on his part plays a large role as building block for the body, building blocks of peptide and protein. On a side note: amino acids are divided into two categories, essential and non-essential. The first help create a proper bowel function and are contained in spinach as well. Next to iron, spinach also contains copper, zinc, iodine and selenium. This way, spinach keeps our blood pressure on the right level and strengthens our immune system through the workings of vitamins A and C.

DrDetoxBox obviously selected spinach as a main ingredient through its powerful characteristics and stimulating effects on the intestines. After you have finished your detox, continue on your healthy path and eat as much vegetables (raw and cooked) as necessary.

Carrot

Carrots contain various vitamins; vitamins A, C, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12 and E to be precise.

That doesn’t prevent the carrot from also carrying lots of other substances that contribute to a healthier and more beautiful skin. Vitamin A does wonders for the protection of your skin through all of its beta-carotene. In addition, all of the vitamin C and phosphor keep your skin elastic and healthy. All these substances have a vascular-dilating effect. Carrots have a positive influence on the heart itself and stimulate the production of red blood cells.

They have a cleansing effect on the intestines and help abolish congestion.

In addition, carrot juice helps the immune system to fight free radicals, damaging bacteria, viruses and infections. Amongst these antioxidants are vitamin C, beta-carotene, lycopene, lutein, zeaxanthin and the powerful carotenoids.

DrDetoxBox has added the right balance to your juice cleanse with the greatest precision. We advise you to keep eating carrots after detoxing. It could help you losing weight because of the great saturating effect that all its fibres and structure have, which in turn helps you to eat less.

Pineapple

Pineapple is the silent power of our detox package. In pineapple are dietary fiber that are good for digestion. The pineapple is full of the anti-inflammatory enzyme bromelain and has a cleansing effect. Pineapple also has a psotive effect on your energy level. The many minerals such as potassium, magnesium, iron, meaning phosphorus have a positive effect on your bones. So you can really talk about a powerful ingredient within the detox package.
